HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER CERTIFICATE

Students must complete the following before application can be submitted
1. Must possess an associate college degree or higher.
2. Minimum of six (6) years of experience as a full-time Fire Safety Inspector.
3. Hold the following certificate from NFPA - "Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)"
Renewal Requirements for Fire Service Instructor, Inspector and Fire Code Administrator
The State of Florida Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire Training and Standards require by law that all Fire Service Instructors, Fire Inspectors
and Fire Code Administrators obtain continuing educational credits for renewal every four (4) years.
Florida Fire Service Instructor I, II, and III Certificates
Every fire instructor certificate is valid for a period of four (4) years from the date of issuance or renewal date. The renewal
of this certificate requires completion of a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education through courses, workshops, and
seminars that are approved by the Bureau. Fire Service Instructor III Certificates will need to complete the
following 24-hour course ATPC 16701 Fire Service Program Manager every four years. Renewal applications
for instructors should be submitted within 90 days before expiring.
Florida Fire Safety Inspector I, II, and III and Fire Code Administrator Certificates
Every fire inspector and fire code administrator certificates are valid for a period of four (4) years from the date of issuance or
renewal date. The renewal of this certificate requires completion of a minimum of 54 hours of continuing education in courses,
workshops, and seminars that are approved by the Bureau, which relate to fire prevention, code enforcement, fire protection,
fire dynamics, building construction, plan review, public education, leadership, fire prevention management,
community risk reduction, ethics, fire investigation, or other areas related to fire prevention.
Renewal applications for inspectors should be submitted within 90 days before expiring.
